It felt really welcoming in the restaurant, and the staff were kind. A nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal, where I think lots of people would feel comfortable.

I stayed for one night. It was comfortable and close to the city center.
We'd happily come back if we get the chance. The place is affordable, close to everything, and the staff were very helpful. When a death meant we had to reschedule, they were understanding and flexible. Our entry card didn't work either, but a lady came right away with a replacement, even in the middle of the night. The air conditioning wasn't in the best shape, which was the one small downside, but opening the windows kept the room from getting hot. If they look into the AC, there shouldn't be a problem.
It was handy being so close to the station and Lake Balaton, and the hotel was a very good price. We weren't in the full Jókai Park building because it was full, but in another building a few houses away. That one had an elevator, which saved us from going up and down a spiral staircase. There was free, closed parking for guests arriving by car. The room was simply furnished with two beds, a little table and two chairs, a large wardrobe, and an LCD TV. There weren't many channels, but we hardly watched it since we spent the evenings outside, where everyone goes to see the sunset over Lake Balaton. Wi-Fi and air conditioning were there, so the room didn't get too hot. I did miss a bedside table and a small fridge, which many places have. They took out the rubbish each day, and even left us fresh towels when they hadn't noticed the ones hanging on the door, since there was no clothes dryer. On our departure day, they held our luggage until our train, so we could still go swimming in Lake Balaton. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for affordable accommodation near Balchik who doesn't need luxury.
The room was clean, and we had abundant, tasty breakfast and dinner through the half-board option at the Balaton Hotel. We stayed two nights, though the air conditioning made the visit frustrating. It blew smelly air and didn't cool the room. We reported it on day one and were told a technician would come the next day. Someone supposedly came, cleaned it, and said it was working, but nothing improved. The unit was ancient and rusty. They say renovation is planned, so they should get on with it. We arrived at 3:00 PM, although rooms could be booked from 2:00 PM, and ours still wasn't ready. They asked us to go for a walk for half an hour. We were told we could stay in the room until noon, but didn't make use of that because of the AC. There are no fridges in the rooms, which we knew, just one shared fridge in the hallway.
