Fagus Hotel Conference & Spa

We spent 4 nights here, mainly to go hiking and cycling in Austria. The setting is nice and relaxing, the food was good, and there’s a small wellness area. But a few things in the room were annoying. The AC didn’t respond when I changed the thermostat, so it never cooled the room to a reasonable temperature in the evening. The TV kept turning off at random times. After a full day out, it would’ve been nice to watch a movie without interruptions. It’s the 21st century, so it should be a streaming-capable smart TV, not just satellite 😊. I also don’t understand charging €2,5 a day for parking. Why not include it in the price for hotel guests? It’s ridiculous. If they fix these small problems, the hotel would be a nice choice.

My wife and I often go to Sopron for a relaxing holiday. Fagus hotel is generally a good choice, and definitely the best around. The other hotels are very bad. Yes, I’ve stayed in all of them. The rooms here are nice, spacious and clean, and the food buffet is mostly good, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings when the food is fresh, delicious and there’s lots of choice. We had a lot of discomfort in the spa. People drank alcohol and talked loudly, some left their towels in the small area below all day, and management should step in. The pool that’s supposed to be warm wasn’t warm at all. Children used the adult pool instead of the children’s one, diving in, and nobody did anything. The worst experience was with some of the reception staff. Although there was nobody in front of us checking in, the receptionist made us wait 5 minutes while he dealt with other things and didn’t even look at us. If he needed more time, he should have asked. He was quite rude.

We loved the peaceful forest setting, a great place to get away from city noise and stress and enjoy nature. The hotel has three pools: a children’s pool, a swimming pool 1.70 meters deep, and a hot-water pool. I only wish there were an outdoor pool too. Our stay was wonderful and we were extremely satisfied. The rooms were immaculate, tidy and comfortable, and the staff were friendly, attentive and ready to help. The food and drinks were top-notch. Both breakfast and dinner were exceptional, with lots of dishes and excellent flavors. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet nature getaway with good food and service.

We stayed 3 nights and had a great time. The staff were helpful and attentive all over the hotel. The room was spacious and clean, though a little warm. It was easy to open the balcony door for fresh air. Breakfast and dinner were tasty, with a wide selection. The spa was lovely and had 4 kinds of saunas, though the steam room was out of order. The lobby’s interactive game tables, board games and billiards table were great fun. The bar by the restaurant was nice, if a bit dark, and the rose wine was lovely. Massages were mediocre and nothing special, so that could improve, but they were reasonably priced for a 4 star hotel. I’d recommend it and will be back!
