If you’re visiting Szeged for sightseeing and only need somewhere to sleep, this could be a four-star stay. Everything is brand new, the small kitchen works well for preparing a few simple things, and there’s a separate bathroom. There are only as many forks, plates and so on as there are beds, though, and the showerhead holder just leaves everything in the bathroom wet. The main annoyance in that situation would be that the yard is really a parking lot. We came with dogs and had told the owner in advance. We were told there was a yard with small trees where the dogs could move around easily. In reality, it’s a small, fully exposed area with large, sharp black pebbles. The house gives it a little shade in the afternoon, but not enough to escape the heat. You can’t see past the fence, and from the front of the house all you see is the neighboring farmhouse wall. It’s also used for parking four cars by people staying in this apartment and in other rentals, so there was car and foot traffic at night. Between that and the unpleasant yard, the room facing the street was noisy too. The yard wasn’t suitable for dogs, which was the main thing we’d asked for. A few things in response to the reply: “farmhouse” isn’t an offensive word, we actually love farmhouses. It was kind of them to offer help, but they didn’t have to if the place wasn’t suitable for dogs. We’d specifically asked, and they said it was, without mentioning any exception or that it wasn’t dog-friendly. We don’t want to look at the street or the four walls around the “yard.” Thanks for the offer and the good intention.
