Sziksósfürdő Strand és Kemping

It’s a nice place to unwind or have a friendly barbecue and long chats, provided you know what you’re getting. The facilities are basic, with open space and a relaxed atmosphere. That simplicity is part of the appeal for spending time with friends.

A tidy, clean camping area that works well for families. There’s a lake or pool with a jumping platform, a baby pool, plenty of playgrounds and two cafes. The grounds and showers were clean. The bungalows are minimal, but neat.

The receptionist was kind and knew some English, which made things easier. The wooden-pellet beds had mattresses that were definitely comfortable enough, and there’s a fridge in the room. But the rooms are extremely basic: just a shower and some pegs for hanging clothes. No towels were provided, which is disgraceful at a water park camping place, especially if you’re stopping on a long road trip. We had one of the two available standard rooms, meant for four, and neither had AC. In 38• August heat we absolutely broiled, and they could at least have left a fan. I found ants, a grasshopper and mosquitoes in the room, though I suppose bugs come with the location. The shower water smelled horrible, and the pool water didn’t look very clean. The lake was so dirty and green that I couldn’t imagine swimming in it. I’m used to oceans and seas, so maybe swimming in lakes like that is normal here, but it isn’t for me. There are small play areas for kids, though given all the space, they felt very minimal. If bugs, smelly water, no AC or fan in 38• heat, and using a public bathroom don’t bother you, this may suit you 👍

There’s loads of room for tents and cars, and you can also stay in a small house near the lake. The toilets and showers are huge, which matters a lot in high season. It’s a beautiful, quiet and peaceful place by the lake, good for kids too. One of the best camping places I’ve ever been to. They’ve also got a very smart friend there! ;) (second pict)
