Tisza Sport Hotel

I was assigned this place during my stay in Szeged, so I couldn’t choose the accommodation. The initial reviews had me expecting a poor stay, but I was pleasantly surprised to arrive and find a newly furnished room. Check-in was quick, and it was clean and tidy, unlike what I’d read. I’ve been in four-star hotels with dirtier rooms and less friendly staff. Though I didn’t pay for this stay myself, it seemed decent value for money as a budget hotel. Other rooms and the common areas had older furnishings, but were kept clean. The staff were very kind and patient, especially the receptionist. Kudos to her. Breakfast covered the basics you’d expect at a hotel: eggs, jam, toast, salami, cheese, coffee and juices. The city centre is about a 15-20 minute walk, or 5 minutes on a Lime electric scooter. A 5-star Review for a 2-star Hotel.

The service was nice, but I barely slept because the rooms were freezing.

The food was inedible, and at breakfast we were served moldy bread. The air conditioning didn’t work, the balcony was bare concrete and dusty, and the beds were hard as rocks with pillows that felt stuffed with rags. The hotel looked socialist and was falling apart. This was the worst hotel of my life. If I could, I’d give it a 0.

It’s clean in general and in a good location, especially if you’re going to Aquapolis. They should put more soap and shampoo in the rooms. The dining and serving area needs more space and better organization, because it gets crowded and service slows down easily. Heating is low in winter.
