We picked Myrtus Pince for a more laid back part of our holiday in eastern Hungary. It’s in a lovely rural spot, with vines stretching out behind the property. The accommodation was good, and there’s a communal kitchen. We also did a wine tasting, which I’d highly recommend. The owner made all the wines himself and clearly knows his craft and cares about it. What really made the stay work for us was how willing he was to go out of his way, literally, to help. He got groceries for us and later drove us to the train station. A great choice for wine, walks, and a quiet rustic escape.

The garden around the house is full of flowers, with shady trees, benches, and even a vineyard up the hill. The house is compact, but plenty big enough for a family of four, and the fridge, microwave, and dishwasher made the stay comfortable. There are Tokaji wineries and sunflower fields nearby, which made the surroundings a big part of the appeal. I’m already looking forward to coming back next year.
