Club Tihany Hotel & Bungalók

The old centre of Tihany is wonderful, with lovely views and really nice people. Nearby, there’s a ferry, and the resort has water, its own beach, a pool, a jacuzzi and a hotel with a piano. It’s surrounded by greenery, trees and forest, with rocks and wildlife close by. A perfect vacation.

We came as a group spanning three generations and chose the hotel instead of the self-catering huts. There was plenty to do around the resort, more than we had time for, and the evening shows were a real hit with our 9 and 5 year olds. We also took the little train to Tihany one afternoon. The hotel areas are a bit tired in places, but we had a great stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the air conditioning worked really well, and staff were helpful when we needed anything or had a problem. Mealtimes get busy at a large hotel, though there was lots of choice and nothing ran out. I had to work one day, and the room had a desk and strong wifi. It’s a great way to enjoy Balaton with small kids, though there isn’t a sandy beach for the very little ones.

The food had a great selection, and we enjoyed every meal. The staff were super friendly and helpful, which made our stay wonderful. Right by Lake Balaton. Highly recommend.

The location deserves 5/5, but the wifi gets just 1/5. Everything else feels like 3/5 to me: food, rooms, activities and the way the staff carry themselves. Nothing was terrible, but nothing stood out either. It’s advertised as a four-star hotel, yet it doesn’t feel distinctive from other hotels and seems like three stars at most.
