Mézes-Kuckó

We loved sitting outside for breakfast. The daytime bustle beyond the property dies down toward evening, around 5 pm, and at night all you hear are crickets. We enjoyed the busy days outside too, though you don’t notice the crowds from inside the accommodation. It’s centrally placed for Tihany’s sights and restaurants, and Tihany is well worth visiting, one of the loveliest villages on Lake Balaton. The landlord, Paul, is truly kind and happy to chat about anything in German. He’s available when there’s a problem, but otherwise quiet and unobtrusive. His wife is lovely too, though we couldn’t talk much because neither of us had learned the other’s language at school. A note about sleeping in the attic: you need to climb a wooden ladder to get up there, so keep that in mind if stairs are difficult for you. I’m 70 with one artificial knee and one that’s been operated on, and my wife is 66. We managed without much effort. The accommodation had everything else we needed for a comfortable holiday. My wife and I stayed here last year and had a really enjoyable time. We wish everyone a wonderful holiday here.

Shops, vendors, restaurants and sights are all close by, and there’s room in the yard to park several cars. Mézes-Kuckó is clean, nicely equipped, and the host is kind and helpful. I’d happily recommend it for relaxing or exploring Tihany, and we’ll probably come back. The old-fashioned feel works well with the modern conveniences, including a refrigerator, air conditioning and wifi.

Right on the pedestrian street, so you’re close to everything. The place was spotless, and the owners were nice.
