Apartman Mercédesz I.

The price was very favorable for what we got. The apartment was clean and tidy, but noise was the main drawback: we could hear the neighbor talking, and on the first night there was a loud sound like a growling bear. My husband can’t stand snoring, so we noticed it right away. Ours was a one-bedroom attic apartment with a bathroom and shower, microwave, some dishes, and cutlery. There was a coffee maker, but it only made a pot, so anyone wanting proper coffee should bring one. When we arrived, the owner explained things plainly, including that we should close the main gate when leaving and drop the keys in the mailbox.

We stayed on the first floor, where every word from the neighboring apartment came through. From 8 to 10:30 pm, the parents were shouting at each other and their children, giving the place a run-down housing estate feel. The apartment itself is fine for two people, but already very cramped with two children. It’s at the end of a nice, quiet street near a playground, and parking in the garden is easy. The kitchen works, though the equipment is mediocre: water spills when poured from the kettle, the sink sponge was already cut in half :), the old electric hob doesn’t show which side is heating, and the single lamp doesn’t light things well. The microwave and air conditioning were fine. Zalakaros spa is good, so this is decent value for a 2-3 day stay.

It’s a quiet, pleasant place, with parking at the house, and about a 10-minute walk to the spa and aquapark. There aren’t many restaurants nearby. The kitchen is very basic, and only the largest apartment has a microwave. Towels are available on request, but there was no toilet paper. The landlady wasn’t very helpful and only speaks German. She stayed in the lower apartment during our visit, which wasn’t very nice. There’s a grill, but no wood. The back garden has swings, though they’re not for older children; the sandbox and trampoline are private. Otherwise, no problems.

We’re here in the third week of August, two parents and two children, and there’s comfortable room for all of us. The apartment and its surroundings are clean and tidy, and it’s close to the center. The street is quiet, so it’s possible to relax during the day. The landlord lives on site and is always available, very helpful, and polite.
