The room was small and dark, with very old, dated furnishings. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, the old mattress sagged into the middle, and the doona was thick and heavy.

The guesthouse is quiet, with tastefully designed rooms that have showers. Everything was clean and tidy, and the bed was comfortable. Coffee and tea are included, and you don't even have to wash the dishes. There are no cooking facilities, though that's not why tourists come. Lucy the dog is very friendly, and pets are welcome for an additional fee. It takes about ten minutes to reach the abbey and bus stop, and fifteen minutes to the train station and bus station. Zirc sits high up, so there's a bit of a climb up the mountainside to the accommodation. The hospital is opposite if anyone gets into trouble. The landlady was helpful and extremely friendly; the landlord can give you an interactive tour of his private collection, with a guessing game and stories. I'll leave what's in the collection as a surprise. I spent a long weekend sightseeing with my sister around Zirc and Veszprém. Taking the train is worthwhile: the line comes through the Bakony from Veszprém and Győr, past tunnels, viaducts, forests, and open grassland, with plenty of bumps. No IC train comes here. Next time, we'll go hiking. Highly recommended, five out of five for me!

We spent two nights here as a family and went hiking in the Bakony Mountains during the day. The accommodation is simple but had what we needed for a relaxing stay, and it was very clean and tidy. There was chocolate waiting in the room when we arrived, plus complimentary coffee and tea. The hostess was very kind and helpful. I'd highly recommend it.

Everything is within easy walking distance. The inn is thoughtfully and tastefully designed, and the accommodation felt clean, comfortable, and homely. The woman running the property was kind and helpful. We ordered breakfast too, and it was plentiful and delicious.
