Hotel O Azzahra Guest House Syariah

I ended up making another booking on the spot after they turned me away. I’d reserved through Expedia and selected payment at the hotel, and the receptionist acknowledged that I had a booking. Still, I was told the hotel was full and that guests who paid online got priority. Nobody had told me about this policy beforehand, and even if that was how they handled bookings, they should have let me know in advance. The receptionist dealt with the issue casually through google translate, as if it wasn’t their concern. When I asked to speak with the manager, they ignored me. A terrible experience.

The neighborhood felt peaceful, away from the university areas and the Ambon city on another part of the island. Food was easy enough to find. There was a really good porridge stall right in front of the hotel around 8-10 AM, for IDR 20,000 a portion. It was so good I had to mention it, hehe. I paid IDR 112,000 through the Traveloka app for a stay in May 2023. Booking through an app made the room cheaper. For that price, it was reasonably clean, and I got a port view, which was nicer than looking at roads. The flush, shower, hot water, aircon, and windows all worked. I didn’t watch TV, so I can’t say if it worked. There was some leaking from the roof onto the wall, but it didn’t bother me and I could use the room and its amenities. Clean towels were provided, but no toiletries. The queen bed was pretty big, with soft pillows, and the mattress felt supernice. You could refill your own bottle with free mineral water from a dispenser in the restaurant area, as I guessed it was. Smoking was allowed there.

A good option for a short stay, quite close to the airport. There’s a 24-hour convenience store next door and lots of restaurants nearby. The WiFi doesn’t reach the second floor, so you have to go down to the first floor to use it. Water pressure could be stronger.

The rooms were clean and had a beautiful view, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Big Boss and wife were also available to help with guest requests. It’s in a great spot near a supermarket, food stalls, a pharmacy, and plenty more. Highly recommended for the service and price. 👍👍👍👍👍
