Core Hotel Benoa

The shower water was leaking, the room smelled, and the bedsheet was dirty. Check-out was at 12 oclock, but at 11.45 a staff member suddenly opened the door without knocking. Luckily, only my Husband and I were in the room, and he was getting ready to check out. Imagine if I’d been alone. Even when a hotel knows the room is empty, they should knock first. After we complained angrily, the staff member said he would report my Husband to Pecalang. They had done something wrong and didn’t take it seriously. That person had no hospitality. I can say this clearly because I work in hospitality.

The rooms smelled bad, and the AC wasn’t cold. There was no daily housekeeping, or even service every other day. I paid cash, outside the application, for an extension. They promised to refund it, but I got nothing.

The staff were great, and I enjoyed my stay for the price. My bed was comfy, the room was nice, and I liked sitting on the balcony. Hot water for the shower was hit or miss. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around, including local places and vendors that aren’t touristy. The beach is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel’s front door.

The beds were comfortable and the TV was good, but this was one of our worst stays this trip. The room took hours to cool down, smelled of mildew, and had a very dirty shower floor. It took 10 minutes to get hot water. At the restaurant by the pool, I felt very exposed. The front desk wouldn’t help and said maybe in the morning. There’s a lovely vegetarian restaurant on site, though it’s expensive by Bali standards.
