Manyi Village

The setting is gorgeous, with peaceful green rice fields all around, and it’s a lovely place to take photos. But some of the practical things let it down. The beds felt hard, and little animals could get into the room. Breakfast was okay but basic, though the scrambled eggs were the best part. Dinner was also just all right and quite expensive for what it was. I had a decent sandwich, but nothing felt special. Ubud is only about 4 km away, yet traffic makes a big difference. One trip took us over an hour. Beautiful surroundings, but the stay didn’t quite match them.

We visited in November, during low season, and found it a good quiet option with nice staff. Our deluxe room was spacious. The bathroom tap gave us trouble, but staff responded quickly and fixed it right away. The blinds can be tricky to pull up or down, so watch out for that. Breakfast had both “Western” and Indonesian choices, with pretty standard quality.

The quiet atmosphere, nice pool, and views across the rice paddies were the good parts. But the room floors never seemed to get mopped, there was mould in the bathroom, and the shower hadn’t been scrubbed. The bed sheets were stained, too. Breakfast and reception staff came across as uncaring. We booked after reading the reviews, and now feel you can’t trust what people write. It wasn’t worth the money, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I chose this place partly because it has parking for a car, which many Ubud accommodations don’t, and for its nature views, especially when the rice fields are in season. The location has that Ubud countryside feel and is away from the crowds. For the price, breakfast and the pool are standard. I had a spacious, clean second-floor room with simple furniture, reached by an outdoor staircase.
