The pool is great, and reception was great too. Service elsewhere was only okay. The rooms are a real gamble, some fine and others terrible. One guest got a lot of mosquito bites because the door didn’t close properly, even after she sprayed DEET everywhere. My room’s bathroom was awful, with soap scum and grime, and the towels were all different colours.

The people here are what keep us coming back. Every visit to The Puri Dalem feels like being welcomed by family, and the housekeeping team takes care of our needs while cleaning the rooms each day. We’ve stayed three times, for long stretches, and have sent friends and family here when they visit Sanur. The gardens are lovely, and both pools and the restaurant are great. Puri Dalem is a real gem. We wouldn’t choose anywhere else.

The garden is beautiful, and kids would enjoy the hotel, though the pool is 120-190 cm deep, so there isn’t a children’s pool. The tour brochures in the lobby were dusty but neatly arranged. The one I wanted was kept in a locked cabinet.

The price was great, and the service was excellent. Whenever we raised a problem, the staff sorted it out. Still, our room, 336, was badly rotten and we felt a little scammed by that. Animals and insects came through the walls, which wasn’t cool. After checkout time, they let us use another room while we went on our day trip to Nusa penida, which was kind of them. It looked just like 336, but without the rot and damage. Hope this helps other travelers.

I used to stay here for training, so coming back after ten years was a letdown for my family. The night receptionist, an older woman, seemed more focused on her cellphone than helping a new customer. I couldn’t sleep well because the pillow smelled dusty, and the towel smelled really bad too. We only stayed one night because of these issues. I hope they improve the service.
