Sanur Resort Watujimbar

We loved this hotel and will definitely return. It's divine and so affordable, in a great spot a short walk from the beach and new shopping mall. The pool area is lovely, the rooms are clean and really spacious, and the restaurant is clean and nice too. Breakfast had loads to choose from, including eggs any style, waffles, pancakes, fruit, pastries and hot dishes. Staff were lovely and very helpful. There's a money changer at the hotel who offers a rate very close to the street rate.

For the price, the resort has a lovely, almost luxurious look, and we were happy with its appearance and convenient Sanur location. It's a solid, affordable place, and we still found it comfortable despite a couple of problems. Breakfast had a huge range of choices each morning, though the flavor and quality were only average. The shower kept leaking because it was broken. We called maintenance three times, but it was never fully fixed, which was disappointing. Mornings were also very loud: we could hear people talking and cleaning staff moving outside the room, and the poor sound insulation made it hard to sleep in.

I've stayed here three times and love it. The food from the restaurant and room service has all been great, and breakfast is awesome. Happy hour at the pool bar is always a laugh, with the guys making great cocktails. The spa is divine, and the women there are wonderful. All the staff are friendly and so helpful. The location is fantastic, just one street back from the beach. Icon mall is about a 10-minute walk, and you can get to the beach through there. There are lots of cool places to eat and plenty of shopping in the area.

We've stayed at this resort six times over the past 2-3 years, about six months apart, so this wasn't a one-time impression. The whole experience had changed from the moment we arrived to when we left. Service, rooms, food and the general feel had all gone downhill dramatically. Our suite was dirty, leaking and poorly maintained, with broken fittings, missing equipment, failing plasterboard, paint and rendering, mouldy grout, badly stained surfaces and faecal stains on the lounge. Construction left the access areas filthy, and getting to the room was difficult. Management stayed silent when we asked questions. The other room they offered had twice as many leaks. They double charged us, overdrawing our travel account, then said it was my fault. This was absolutely our last time. I'd sincerely caution anyone who's stayed before not to expect the same service or quality. Look elsewhere.
