Mercure Bandung Nexa Supratman

The room, cleanliness, and service were all good. My room was comfortable and clean, with the expected 4-star basics like a hair dryer and smart TV, plus local snacks and fruit. The pool was clean too, not very big, but fine for relaxing. Breakfast was the weak point and didn’t feel up to 4-star standards to me. There wasn’t much variety. The satay station had tempe and eggplant satay, but no meat. The dim sum wasn’t great, and the shumai smelled like Whiskas, yes, the cat food. Sausages and fruit weren’t self-serve, and each fruit serving was just three small slices. You could ask for more, but it gave the impression the hotel was cutting costs on breakfast. I stayed at Mercure Nexa Hotel. It’s a good hotel for the room and service, but if the price difference is significant, I’d book without breakfast.

The staff were very kind, and the room was okay, though there were lots of rusty marks on the bathroom cabinet. I knew it was an older hotel, even if it was still Mercure and I expected an international standard. At check-in, we got only one key and had to pay a Rp 100.000 deposit for another one. It was okay, but a strange policy I hadn’t come across before. The breakfast was the worst part. The food was barely 2/10. Nasi uduk tasted like plain rice with fried shallots, and the nasi goreng somehow tasted like nasi uduk. As an Indonesian living abroad, I’m usually easily pleased by food that’s just okay, but this was really bad. Lots of the bain-maries were literally empty, and the restaurant staff weren’t keeping them filled. The satay station was just meatballs on skewers. Even the fake sushi tasted better than the local food. We ended up moving here for a total of 6 rooms because my relative had to work at the end of our family trip and their office booked this hotel. We left our original hotel, which was better, newer, and cheaper, so we could all stay together. Moving was my biggest regret.

The food at breakfast and dinner was tasty, and the staff were very friendly and quick to help. When the pool towels ran out, they refilled them promptly. The room and bathroom were clean, the hot water worked perfectly, and I really enjoyed my vacation at Nexa Mercure Hotel. There was a little sound coming through between rooms, but it was a minor issue. Breakfast could use a few adjustments on some days. One person at the egg counter was enough on Saturday, but two on Sunday would have handled requests faster. The sausages, a favorite, had run out by around 9 a.m. Sunday, so keeping more in stock would help. I was very satisfied overall and would love to return.

There were water dispensers throughout the room corridors, which was handy for refilling water. The room was comfortable and had a great view of Bandung. Breakfast had plenty of variety, both sweet and savory, and the service was good. Yana, the exec chef, made sure guests enjoyed their meal.
