It's his own house, which he rents out now that he's retired. He can be considerate about the cost if you explain your situation, but he can also be a bit sneaky with the charges. For example, he said not to use the AC from 1am til 10 am, or we'd have to pay extra, and there were other things like that. Still, just contact him, he's open.
