The Palais Dago Hotel

The room itself was very good, but there was no view. I also had a bad night when hotel staff talked loudly and woke me up. They tried to fix the problem with the closet, but it came back. Breakfast was just okay. I wouldn’t say not to stay here, though I’d choose other hotels first.

The location on Dago street is very good, with lots of restaurants nearby since the hotel doesn’t serve breakfast. The rooms are spacious and very nice, even with the old-fashioned decor. For the price, I think it’s worth it.

You can find cafes, shops, and plenty of other places within 1 km or about a 10-minute walk. Bebek Carok, which always seems to have a long queue, is less than 20 steps away, and Bosscha cafe, with its good tea selection, is around 40 steps away. The breakfast choices are limited, but I liked all of them. The place is known for pre-wedding photos, too, and I’ll definitely stay here again. Think of it as a big, private house turned into a hotel. The rooms are bigger and more homey than standard hotel rooms, with marble floors. It’s the largest room I’ve had in Bandung. There’s no view from the rooms, but that’s a small downside.

It’s very close to ITB and handy for exploring Bandung’s food scene, though parking could be difficult in peak season. The old hotel has dark wood decor and a small elevator that fits about 3-4 people. My family room was clean and fairly spacious. The floor, toilet, and tub were yellowish, as you might expect in an older place, but they were clean. Staff were helpful and hospitable. They provide a toothbrush, while other items are available by request, including a hairdryer. Hot water for coffee or tea is available. The bathroom had a smell like cockroaches, or an old warehouse or unused toilet, but I didn’t see any roaches or other pests. Maybe an air freshener would help. I’m not sure if they’re keeping costs down after COVID, but it would make the room better. Sorry I didn’t take pictures. I think the hotel is wheelchair accessible.
