The Silk at Dago Boutique Hotel

We had a really enjoyable stay for almost a week. The hotel’s style is lovely, mixing Indonesian touches with modern art throughout. Out back, the garden is peaceful and well looked after, and the staff are friendly.

The design is great, with plenty of photo spots, and there’s a cool coffee shop. It’s a small hotel with a tiny lift, but it’s cleverly designed. The room wasn’t very spacious, though it was good and had useful facilities. I especially appreciated the hair dryer. There’s a small swimming pool too, more like a bathing pool. The price is pretty cheap for what you get, and I’d definitely come back.

The executive room is much better than the deluxe. There’s no view from the deluxe, while the executive has a balcony looking out over the pinus and pool. This is a pretty artistic boutique hotel, and the homey feel and nice cafe are part of what makes it appealing. Prices are a little higher than places with similar facilities. A few things need attention: it takes a long time for the shower water to warm up, one towel had a hole, and they don’t provide bath mats or slippers. The pool is 1.5 meters for adults and 0.5 meters for children.

The executive room had a nice bed, a clean bathroom, and good hot water, but the room itself wasn’t well maintained. The wall was dirty, as were the bag rug and bench, so I didn’t want to sit there. Fortunately, there was one clean sofa. I first chose a deluxe room, but it was a definite no for me: small, smelly, and the window faced another room. I upgraded to an executive, though mine was beside the kitchen, so there was some noise from cooking starting around 5 a.m. With clean walls and rugs and a repaired bench, I’d give it four stars. Other hotels at the same price offer cleaner rooms.
