Dannu's Homestay By Zuzu

We had a great stay and a really good Ijen and Bromo tour organized by Dannu. He’s kind, flexible, and does what he can to make the experience a good one. We needed a transfer from Bali to Java, and he always found a solution. Arip drove us, and the transfer went perfectly. If you want to get to know friendly locals, come here. We didn’t stay at the Homestay, but Dannu still arranged a great, fairly priced Ijen tour for my partner and me that same day. We really appreciated how kind and generous he was, and how welcoming he remained even though we weren’t his guests. He seems genuine and runs a well looked-after homestay.

We booked an Ijen and Bromo tour from Banyuwangi with Danu, and I’d book with him again without hesitation. After researching, his prices were clearly the best I found. Communication over WhatsApp was easy, and the transport was well organized and on time. We had a flight afterward and were worried, but reached the airport with plenty of time. A really bad experience. There was mold everywhere, it was loud, and the small two-bed dorm had no curtains. The showers were cramped and cold, and there was no toilet paper or bin. The owner, Dannu, was very unfriendly and unhelpful. He gave guests wrong information so they’d book a tour with him, which costs much more than other tours in town. After checking out, I sat outside for 15 minutes and wasn’t even allowed inside to wash my hands. He also told us we couldn’t go see the blue fire on our own and that he’d tell his friends there not to let us down into the crater. There were a lot of things like that. It was all bullshit.
