The beds are comfortable, and the staff are friendly. The rooms get hot, though the fan helps. Facilities could be a little cleaner, but it wasn’t too bad, and the price seems fair for what you get. You can arrange tours or rides here, and they’ll pick you up from the train station. There are scenic fields just around the corner.

The people are really nice, and it’s super clean, but the rooms are very basic and hot, with little ventilation. There’s a mosque speaker right out front, so the call to prayer will definitely wake you. They provide free water refills, tea, and coffee :) It’s not especially expensive, just about normal for Indonesia these days, around 130k for a double room with a shared bathroom.

I wouldn’t recommend this place, and I don’t get how the ratings are so high. A lot of it looked dirty and shabby: dark spots on the walls, a grey sink, what looked like mold in the water dispenser, and a moldy mattress. There were spider webs everywhere, and the roof didn’t seem fully enclosed, so plenty of insects got inside. There was only one shower and no blanket, though it was so hot in the room that I didn’t need one despite the fan. The bed was fairly comfortable, and the toilet was cleaner than I expected given the rest, so I still give it 2 stars.

The included Indonesian breakfast is a nice touch, and they offer Ijen tours and car hire at fair prices. They try to match each guest with a suitable, affordable option instead of pushing expensive packages. The guesthouse is a good value, though it's about a 45-minute walk from the centre. There are minimarts around 15 minutes away and restaurants about 10 minutes away. Contact the staff before you arrive and they can pick you up from the nearby train station.
