AP Premier Batam

Service was one of the strongest parts of my four-day, three-night stay at AP Premier Batam. The staff were friendly, helpful, and accommodating, and security guards were on duty. I’d consider returning. With proper renovation, the hotel could become one of Batam’s better places to stay. It’s around a five-minute Grab or Gojek ride from Harbour Bay Ferry Terminal. From Friday to Sunday, there’s a shuttle to several malls, three trips a day, which you can arrange in advance with the front desk. The room was clean and functional but clearly dated, with old furniture and visible wear. The property is generally maintained and usable, but needs a lot of refurbishment. It used to be Novotel Batam, then Travelodge Batam, and is now AP Premier. The layout, rooms, and furnishings still show its Novotel-era origins. Smoking and non-smoking rooms are available. The indoor pool and gym are reasonably spacious. Soundproofing needs work, especially if you’re a light sleeper. Noise from corridors and neighbouring rooms, particularly connecting rooms, can carry when other guests are loud. Breakfast was sufficient and acceptable, but average and the same each day. A rotating menu would help, since it gets repetitive after a few days. It’s decent value if you don’t mind an older hotel.

The location is convenient, just a few minutes by Grab from Nagoya. Breakfast was okay, with limited variety, though the fried rice was tasty. We booked three rooms of the same type, but one was smaller than the others. There were several room issues: the floor was very dusty, the bathtub had cigarette burns despite it being a non-smoking room, and its pipe was loose. The heater was broken, leaving the water too cold to bathe my baby in the rainy weather over three days. The toiletries were poor. They also required a cash deposit and wouldn’t accept cards, which felt outdated when people are going cashless.

The staff were the highlight of our stay at AP premier batam. They were very friendly and the service was impeccable, better than at most five-star hotels in my opinion. The rooms were big and clean, and the hotel was peaceful enough to relax, tucked away from the main street. My family and I had a wonderful stay and would love to return.

The hotel is in a convenient location, and I’m happy to be here. It’s my first time, and breakfast had lots of options. The buffet and à la carte were my favorites.
