De Best Hotel

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times and requested a non-smoking room each visit. This time the staff told me smoking is allowed inside the rooms. Each check-in, I’ve had to put up with a strong cigarette smell for days. Everything else is great, but that smell is unacceptable. This was my last visit.

The corridors were uncomfortably hot, with almost no air conditioning, so walking to the room wasn’t pleasant. Wi-Fi was very weak and nearly unusable during my stay. Breakfast was a letdown: cold, mostly spicy food, not suitable for guests who can’t handle spice, and little variety. The room also fell short of what some reviews had led me to expect online. For the price, don’t expect much. Overall, below average, with several things needing improvement.

The location worked well for me. Two large malls, massage places and eateries were within walking distance, and the area was quiet at night. My windowless standard room was fairly spacious with a basic setup, and the bed was comfortable. There was a closet but only two hangers, and no fridge or safe in the room. The bathroom was clean, with few visible mold spots and no sewage smell, which I appreciated. The sink was too small to wash comfortably, though, and without a shower curtain the bathroom got wet after bathing. The room itself could be cleaner: there were dusty, dirty spots on shelves, inside drawers, the cabinet and wardrobe. Wi-Fi in the room was unstable. Cigarette smoke lingered, likely from the bathroom exhaust, and the ventilation and air filter didn’t seem very good. Soundproofing was poor too, with outside noise and the elevator tone easy to hear. It was a good stay for me overall, but light sleepers or anyone sensitive to cigarette smoke should consider other options.

The only good thing about this hotel was breakfast. Cigarette smoke was so bad that my room filled with it. I reported it at the cashier, and all they did was spray air freshener. For five minutes it was a mix of spray and smoke, then it got worse. I couldn’t breathe with the smoke getting out of hand. I wish I’d taken a photo to show how thick it was. I had to check out at 1 am because I couldn’t sleep there. This was my last visit, and I won’t come back.
