The bathroom is spacious, which was the one thing I liked. I was in room 401, and the access card didn't work when I got there. They had no spare card, apparently, so every time I came back that day I had to ask staff to let me in. Pretty annoying. The air conditioner also leaked.

My room was clean and quiet, small but fairly modern. The bathroom flooded like a pool when I showered. I asked the staff to fix it, and it was less bad afterward. There were disco lights in the room, but I just left them off rather than complain. The food they had for sale taking up the only table was annoying. Staff were friendly, and the room was inexpensive. I'd consider staying again.

The road noise kept me awake. The windows aren't soundproof, and I could hear motorbikes going past, so if you're a light sleeper like me, don't pick this hotel. I'm writing this while feeling sleepless, and I regret leaving my noise-cancelling earbuds at home. Despite the bad location and poor fixtures, when the air conditioner in my first room was faulty, the front desk promptly moved me to another room. The staff are app-friendly and made me feel appreciated. The rooms aren't anything special, but they're good enough for the price.

The staff were a real help during my first trip to Batam, and check-in and checkout were quick and simple. WiFi worked reliably, which I needed for work. The hotel itself is decent and does the job, though there are plenty of downsides from my week at Hotel Osaka Batam Nagoya. The rooms are extremely small. I offered to pay extra for a bigger one, but an upgrade wasn't possible, and spending a whole week in such a cramped space wore me down. At first the room looked clean, but there was dust everywhere when I checked more carefully. I have asthma, and I had breathing problems throughout my stay. There was just one power socket, too. The neighbourhood felt quite run-down. As a Western traveller I didn't feel fully comfortable walking around, especially at night. Nothing dangerous happened, but the area had a slightly sketchy atmosphere. It might matter less if you don't plan to explore on foot or stay near the hotel. I was also surprised that smoking and vaping seemed to be allowed in hotels in Indonesia. I'm used to hotels and restaurants being smoke-free, so the lingering smell in shared areas put me off and didn't help my breathing. I probably wouldn't return, mainly because of the location and dust. The helpful staff and working basics weren't enough to offset all the drawbacks for me. If dust doesn't bother you, small rooms are fine, and you'll spend most of your time elsewhere, it could suit you. For a week, I'd choose somewhere in a better area next time.

Febina and Dwia were the best part of my stay. They were warm, friendly, and quick to bring anything I asked for, and they let me check in half an hour early. I really appreciated that. Their hospitality gets five stars from me, even though the stay as a whole gets four. The room was quiet, the bed comfortable for me, and the TV and Wi-Fi worked well. Water pressure was good, and the lighting was fine for reading. It was generally tidy, and I didn't notice any sewage or smoke smells. There are plenty of eateries and a food court within walking distance. The standard room is cramped and has only a small window facing the next building's wall, so there's no view. It also lacks a mini fridge, safe, kettle, cups, and hair dryer. The furnishings look dated and worn, and the sheet and blanket cover seemed shabby, with stains and small holes. The air conditioning wasn't cold enough and the airflow kept changing. The TV is mounted too high and at an awkward angle, which made watching it uncomfortable and strained my neck. The bathroom has no shower partition, so the whole floor gets wet. The basin may feel too small for some people, and the room was stuffy and humid, as if the exhaust fan wasn't working or wasn't there. I could see mold and scum. There's a morning market across a canal in front of the hotel. It wasn't too noisy or chaotic, but you can smell the wet market when you leave the hotel. Luckily, that smell is around in the morning and fades by late afternoon.
