The staff were welcoming and helpful, but the room had no soundproofing, and the road was so noisy at night that I couldn’t sleep. The toilet door was broken, and the only bathing option was a shower, with toiletries provided. We got just one card per room, which was inconvenient. There were very few irons, so I had to wait for one to become available. They should have an ironing station on every floor.

The city view isn’t anything special, and those rooms face a busy two-way main road with nonstop traffic. I barely slept and nearly got a headache from the noise. The windows aren’t soundproof, so every car and motorbike comes through clearly. I was really disappointed.

I booked last year and it was okay, but a lot has changed this year. The breakfast was pathetic, with no eggs left by 7:30 and much less variety than last year. The hotel also seems very different and disappointing. Breakfast costs 50,000 IDR for adults and 25,000 for kids, so please consider skipping it. It isn’t worth the price.

The rooms are on the small side, and the club inside the hotel can get noisy at night. I didn’t mind the noise myself, but it could disturb anyone sensitive to sound. Staff were polite and professional when I dealt with them. Sahid Vanilla Hotel Batam is on the main street in the central business district, close to shopping centers and leisure spots, many within walking distance. The area felt quite safe. It’s budget friendly and good value if you want a central location and don’t mind some nightlife noise.
