Swiss-Belhotel Batam

We had hitea as a group of three at ESKA hotel, and Julfry, our server and the head bartender, made the evening. He was warm, genuinely kind and very polite, and chatting with him was a joy. The staff and service were wonderful. I'd recommend it.

At over IDR 600,000 per night, the poor maintenance and service were unacceptable. The room had a damaged toilet door, stains in the shower area, and a dirty towel and mat. I can't recommend this hotel based on the experience. I checked in at about 3:40 PM and found right away that the main door lock didn't work. I took a timestamped video at 3:46 PM and reported it to reception during check-in. They said maintenance would come soon. I followed up several times through the afternoon and evening, but almost six hours later nothing had been fixed. The repeated promises to handle it were the most disappointing part. On one call, they asked whether it was urgent, even though the room door couldn't be secured properly. That was concerning for a basic safety issue. I left for dinner at around 5:45 PM after reception assured me the lock would be fixed before I returned. When I got back at approximately 9:15 PM, it was still broken. I was told not to worry because the hotel had guards around the clock, as if that could substitute for a working lock. They said repairs would have to wait until the next morning so they wouldn't disturb other guests. The lack of urgency and repeated assurances without follow-through made a defective room lock feel like something they could keep putting off.

The service was okay, the food decent, and the staff polite and friendly, but the place didn't feel like a 4-star hotel. It looked old and unlike the pictures we saw before booking. For the high price, the room seemed due for renovation, and only one light worked for my entire stay. There are plenty of shops nearby, though you'll need transport to get around. Walking is possible, but the distances are quite long. I found the experience very disappointing and wouldn't recommend the hotel. No next time, thanks.

This was my fourth stay at the hotel, from 30 December 2025 to 7 January 2026, with one extra night added. The hospitality was good, and staff always greeted me when they saw me. The area is quiet, which makes for a peaceful holiday. Breakfast is simple, nothing fancy. Nika is friendly and always smiles when guests walk by. Yong is always smiling too and helpful to guests. I'd recommend visiting and staying here.
