The drive in can be a challenge, with some very steep roads, so make sure your vehicle is in good shape. Once there, it’s a great place to get away from the busy city. The location is good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The cabin was clean, with enough bathroom amenities. Compared with the one in Pengalengan, this cabin has a bug screen, though some bugs still get in, especially through the bathroom. Turning the bathroom light off when you’re done may make the cabin less attractive to them.

If you’re planning to explore Zone 2 of Dieng, this is a good base. The views are awesome, and the cabins are quite new, with insect doors. I found a few dirty spots around and under the bed, though the rooms could use more attention. The cabin crew were welcoming, especially Mbak Annisa, and the drivers were great. They could use more staff in high season to avoid slow responses, plus more cars or parking at the top. For the sunrise, set off at 3am sharp. There are stairs, and it could be slippery in the rain, so I wouldn’t recommend bringing seniors. Getting there from Jakarta, I’d go via Pantura rather than Wonosobo or Purwokerto, since it’s fairly close to Tol Jakarta-Semarang. Semarang is about 90 minutes away, and the highway to Jakarta-Semarang is 50 minutes away. I’d rent a jeep and pay extra instead of risking a private car on Tol Kayangan and Tanjakan Krakalan, both famous, extreme inclines in Dieng.

The smart window had a glitch in the morning, so I missed seeing the sunrise from our cabin. A technician came around 7am and got it working again. The room is very clean, probably because the place has only just opened. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I hope it stays in such good condition.

I really appreciated the car transport from the employees, and Siska at reception was helpful. Most of the staff were very friendly, and the views from the rooms are lovely. The rooms were clean and well maintained, with Wi-Fi available everywhere. It’s a good spot to relax, though getting there can be a bit difficult. The rooms are on the small side, there aren’t activities even light ones, and there’s no restaurant or other service, so bring the food and supplies you’ll need. One employee’s rude, condescending manner made our stay unpleasant. He rarely smiled. I hope management can retrain him on how to treat guests.
