I won't be coming back. The bungalow cost over 1 million IDR a night, yet didn't feel worthy of a so-called 4-star hotel. The first room smelled of sewage and was dated and poorly maintained, with a hard mattress, cheap pillows, and a water heater that didn't work properly. Switching rooms didn't solve it: the wardrobe and back door were broken, and the sheets smelled like cigarette smoke.

The staff were friendly and professional, though most of the stay felt pretty average. The food and room were so-so, and room service was standard. Parking for cars is limited, and I didn't see a motorcycle parking area. The price is mid to higher range. Still, I'd give it five stars.

You get a lovely mountain view from the pool's edge, and the atmosphere is comfortable. It's a heritage building right by the road, with friendly staff. It is a little expensive, but I think staying in a colonial heritage place makes it worth it.

The hot water was only lukewarm, but everything else was OK. Go for the DELUXE room in the new building, since Moderate is in the old one. At 700k per room, this was the best deal I've found in Batu, and the place somehow has Bali resort vibes, even compared with other 4 and 5 star hotels, including ones over 1++ rate. There's a library here!! 😂😂 You can have dinner at the restaurant by the pool until 9.40 pm, then keep relaxing through the night.

I found book reading spots near reception, including one book about the history of Malang, if I remember right. The building is old, but I'm pretty sure it's looked after properly. My room was neat and clean, the employees were kind, and the food was delicious with plenty of variety. It's a legendary, superb hotel. I really enjoyed my time there and will definitely come back ✨
