Jos & Hanny Homestay

The pool is tucked away and very clean, just right for cooling off after getting around Batu. There are also trips to Malang and Mount Bromo, though Batu itself has plenty to see. I've just about finished my stay here this year, my third time at Jos&Hanny villa, and it won't be my last. It's a little oasis, with comfortable rooms, good food, and staff who are friendly and ready to help. I especially enjoy the Indonesian breakfast, and you should try the homemade burger too :). Hanny is always cheerful and helpful, just ask and she's there. Terima Kasih Hanny and staff. Looking forward to coming back.

Breakfast was the best part, served on plates with both Indonesian and Western food. The room itself was basic, but the balcony had a good view of Mt Arjuna. The shower head couldn't be angled, so I had to hold it while showering. There weren't many power points, and two were in the toilet by the sink, which felt dangerous to use. I only used one after showering and covered it with a towel, just in case. The TV volume could only be changed in increments of 10, so even the lowest setting was loud at night.

A garden surrounds the villa, making it feel fresh and peaceful, with butterflies flying around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The host even waited for us to get back from our Bromo trip before serving our “breakfast”, though we returned at 2pm. The breakfast, or lunch by then, was great. Wi-Fi coverage was good. Bike rental is available for 100k a day, and in-room massage costs 120k an hour.

We spent five days in family room no 07 and had a fabulous stay. The villa was neat and clean, and all the staff and her daughter provided excellent service. It's centrally located in Batu City, so getting around by Grab was easy. Thanks to Bu Hanny for the hospitality, even though we didn't meet in person. A few things could be better: the Indihome cable TV had to be restarted every time I wanted to watch, the toilet tissue could use a proper holder, and on the morning of Day 5 the AC suddenly started making a sound. Still, it was a great experience. Wishing you and your family continued success.
