Seulawah Grand View

The price didn’t come close to matching what we got. For a three-star hotel, the standards were appallingly low, and calling it a scam feels fair. Seulawah Grand View looked promising from outside, but checking into our two rooms was like walking into a horror movie. Both beds had sheets covered in water, brown, and black stains. Underneath were huge fresh stains with a very noticeable smell. We thought it might have been a one-off and asked for replacements, but the supposedly clean sheets were just as disgusting, if not worse. It felt like they were competing to provide the most revolting bedding. If you want to sleep on something that looks like a crime scene, go ahead. Otherwise, save your money and sanity and stay elsewhere. The whole experience was disgusting and frustrating, a three-star hotel in name only, where standards seem to have been completely ignored.

The location and views were nice, but service fell short. We rented six rooms, and one had no hot water. Breakfast had very little variety, and most of the food was gone by 7:30, just an hour after it started, without being replenished. On our second morning, the whole hotel had no running water for about two hours, so I had to scoop water from the pool to flush the toilet. The shower head was poorly maintained, with about 40% of its holes not blocked. There was a water dispenser in the room area, but it wasn’t refilled when empty. The hotel didn’t seem ready for peak season and wasn’t well maintained.

The room was spacious, the bathroom clean, and the staff friendly. The pool was small but fine, and it’s cool up on the high ground even without air conditioning. I booked a Junior Room on the second floor, room 223, but the view was poor, right beside people’s houses. For a hotel built in 2013, the room feels a bit old-fashioned, too.

The breakfast buffet was good, though we arrived near the end and there wasn’t much selection left. The view from the second floor was very nice, and I appreciated having water in the room. We didn’t try room service. The junior suite was clean but nothing special, which seems about right for a three-star hotel. The pool was cold, so I doubt we’ll use it, though the area was okay. Having to use the room key to lock the door is always a safety concern in case of a fire.
