Villa Gajah Mas

The view is really great, and you can walk down to the waterfall. They also welcome pets. The place was a bit dirty, though, and the staff weren't very nice. I was confused about where to go or ask when I first arrived. The path downhill makes it not so suitable for older people. I wouldn't take a shower there, since it was dirty and there was no shampoo. He just handed me a towel and left.

We ate at the night market across the street, which was fun, cheap, and tasty. Breakfast was fantastic, especially the omelet and pineapple pancakes, enjoyed overlooking the well-kept grounds. The staff were attentive and friendly, the cabins clean and welcoming, the bed very comfortable, and the shower lovely. Each villa has its own TV. Best of all, there's a twin waterfall right on the property, reached by walking down. It's close to town but set in beautiful grounds, and the price was very good value. We'd definitely recommend a visit.

Getting to the room along the steep path was scary on my motorcycle. We booked for four but were first given a room for three; adding a bed would have made it too crowded. We then moved to a different room for four the next day, but it hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests: the sheets weren't changed and the floor hadn't been swept. The cupboard had no hanger, and the TV didn't work. They also didn't provide the sanitary items we needed unless we asked.

The pool is large, but the water was very cold even in the afternoon. Breakfast was basic, though there are food stalls at the market across the road, plus a cafe and mini-mart within walking distance. The family room was clean, with a soft bed, refrigerator, and even a stove for cooking. The shower had hot water and good pressure. From the main road, the villa may sit inside the jungle depending on which room you choose; the grounds are wide, so the walk from reception can be a bit long, but cars and motorbikes can get in. There's also access to the twin waterfall, though the path is a little slippery and makes for good exercise. Easy to find and worth trying.
