Quins Style Resort Belitung

The location couldn’t be more convenient, right next to the beach where boats leave for island hopping. We booked a day trip at the reception, and it went really well. The hotel was brand new, though still unfinished, but we had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Since the restaurant was still being completed, breakfast was brought to our room. That was fine with a balcony facing the sunrise. We also had dinner at the coffee house, which serves food, and joined in with the karaoke.

It’s within walking distance of Kalayang, the most famous beach, but the hotel isn’t actually on the beach. For what you get and the state of the surroundings, I found it too expensive. For under $100, you can stay at a much better known hotel. It’s a new building, but felt run down. Only the first floor was open, with construction materials still around and a very messy backyard. I wouldn’t recommend it this year.

The room was comfortable, clean, and nice. The rest of the experience was poor. Staff seemed inexperienced and often didn’t know what to do, and their English was limited. Common areas were dirty and sloppy, with no hygiene standards. The pool area was under construction and not fit to use. I saw staff smoking and cutting their nails at the front desk and in the restaurant. The food was poor too. We had to choose breakfast the day before, but the omelette we were served was cold, sad, and clearly precooked. Dinner one night was basic and premade.

Friendly staff, but the rooms were filthy. There was no pool, no beach, and the restaurant wasn’t operating. The bar had beer, and that was all. This place was still a construction site, with only one floor running for guests and the rest unfinished. I wouldn’t come here expecting an Indonesian style hotel. It may be ready to host guests in a year, but not now.
