Grage Hotel Bengkulu

The standout is the view. From an upstairs room you can watch the sunset, something I haven’t seen other hotels in Bengkulu offer like Horizon does. You can also take in the pine forest along the coast, and there’s a pool beside the restaurant. The facilities are good and it’s one of the town’s higher-ranked hotels, though sometimes the toilet hasn’t been dried.

The pool is open to the public with a membership card. We paid 100k for a silver membership, which lets you swim five times or bring five people at once. We went on a weekend afternoon, and the beach view is amazing around sunset. Just note, it closes at 5pm.

The rooms are spacious, so this could work well if you like having space. Being right by the beach gives you a great view from inside. The food was decent, nothing special, and hospitality could be better. The internet connection was terrible.

The beach view is better than what other hotels in town offer, but housekeeping needs a lot of work. I’m not sure there’s a clear cleaning routine for staff, especially for the floor, hidden spots, toilet, and in-room drinking facilities. The TV and its channels were poor too, so the channels weren’t useful. It’s a shame if management doesn’t improve, given the great beach view and the hotel’s potential.
