Mayang Sari Beach Resort

The food at all the restaurants is above par, and the staff are always friendly. This is a great place to retreat to, rustic but clean, with good service. I’ve been back more than five times. Just watch out for jellyfish, which seem to be showing up more often. Those blue, thread-like things on the beach can still sting, even when they’re not in the water.

We had a lovely time and would come back. I brought my six-month-old baby and everything went smoothly, so it felt very kid-friendly. The resort is huge, with lots to do, and the shuttle rides made getting around easy. Our garden-facing room still had a wonderful view and atmosphere, and the staff and service were the best.

The seaside view, quiet surroundings, and beautiful sunset made the stay feel private and romantic. My room was large, and even the clothes provided in the room were such good quality. The spa is right beside the room, and it was excellent. I’d recommend the Javanese massage. The breakfast spread was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Reception and the concierge were great, and when the TV stand broke, someone came to fix it straight away. I’d love to return.

The shuttle to the swimming and recreation areas was disappointing, and there’s no pool at the resort itself. The beach also wasn’t suitable for walking or swimming, with tar visible in both the sand and water. On top of that, the on-site minimart prices were extremely inflated, around 15-20 times local market prices, and Spice, the only Indian restaurant, was very expensive. I stayed at Mayang Sari Resort, Bintan from 16-18 Feb 2026. The rooms were spacious and well designed, with high ceilings, and the staff were polite and helpful. Service was pleasant, but the limited access to amenities, high prices, and poor shuttle service made it less appealing for a relaxing holiday.
