Lembeh Resort

We’re snorkellers, and although this is mainly a dive resort, plenty of the sites are good for snorkeling too. We saw what we’d hoped for, including seahorses, frog fish, moray eels, and even two cardinal fish while snorkeling. The service was outstanding. Every staff member was friendly, learned our names, and made an effort to keep us comfortable. The food was excellent, with a strong French influence, especially the croissants and sauces. Our room gets a low rating because we stayed in one of the older rooms behind the resort. There are lots of other beautiful room options. We met divers who’ve returned many times and say it’s the best place in the world for critters. We’d love to come back someday.

We changed our plans at the last minute and stopped here for two nights to see Lembeh’s critters as snorkelers. No regrets. The resort, still run by the second (?) generation of the Batuna diving family, has a fresh energy, including brand new rooms. My renovated cottage was high up the hillside, so it took a bit of climbing, but the quiet, lovely room and the kingfisher birds coming and going from their nest made it completely worth it. There’s renovation work happening, though the team is considerate about the noise. You can ask for quieter work if you’re resting or out of the water, and management even offered that proactively. I really enjoyed chatting with the team and other guests. Staff remembered me by name, and the new spa’s strong massage was a relief for sore muscles. The snorkeling was great too. The dive Center had prepared me for possibly seeing little in the muck, but we found LOADS of critters. My guide Pak Nadri had a sharp eye for even tiny shrimp and nudibranches. Seeing the plastic impact was sad, and a sobering reminder that we all have a part to play in helping the environment. Highly recommended if you want to see Lembeh’s unique creatures and still have creature comforts. Thank you for a lovely stay.

For a bucket list trip, this was an amazing experience. The on-site dive center was phenomenal, and the service from both the resort and dive shop at Lembeh Resort was hard to put into words. The staff were welcoming and attentive. Our room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. The food was delicious, with lots of variety for different tastes and diets, and the spa felt luxurious.

We spent 5 nights here in November 2024, and the journey was well worth it. Underwater photographers should make the trip: we saw a Blue Ringed Octopus on our very first dive. The dive guides seemed able to spot everything, and all the staff did their best to welcome everyone and take care of things. My wife loves Cuttlefish, and it felt like the whole team made it their mission to help us find them on nearly every dive. Fandi was our main guide. He made everything easy, spotted even tiny creatures, and helped us get the best photos. He seemed to know our cameras better than we did and made sure they were set up just right. The rooms, dive lockers, food, and pool area are all laid out conveniently for diving. We liked it so much that we’re already planning a longer return visit.
