Hotel O Nawangwulan

I found the staff especially friendly, and the location is convenient, close to Blitar station. The room is standard, and the price is affordable. I booked through Agoda, but when I arrived, the payment hadn’t appeared in the hotel’s system, so I had to pay a deposit for the booking amount. The front office staff explained the situation kindly, and the deposit was returned when I checked out. If you’re visiting Blitar, I think this hotel belongs on your list.

The setting felt homey, simple but comfortable, and the room was clean with working air conditioning and hot water. I was hesitant after seeing one bad review, but booked a twin room through Agoda for 130 thousand and was glad I did. The hotel is right by the station, and it’s an easy walk to the town square, with cheap, tasty street food along the way. You can order food to the room too. Just message the restaurant on WA, they reply quickly. The TV isn’t Android TV, and it seems to need a set top box, which hasn’t been provided.

The room looked comfortable in the photos, and the good rating on Traveloka persuaded us to book. Once we arrived, though, the walls were dirty all over and the room felt very cold. The blanket was thin and didn’t match what was shown, so I asked reception about it. They told me the blanket in the photo was only a prop :) I then asked for a blanket with a bed cover, but they said they didn’t have one. I was very disappointed and won’t stay here again. There are plenty of more suitable places at prices that aren’t much different.

You’re right across from Blitar Station, only a few steps away, so this is handy if you arrive late by train and need to stay or just transit. Food options are all around, including geprek chicken, meatballs, a minimarket, gelato de clase, and Padang rice for 10,000 rupiah. My room at the front didn’t smell of cigarettes, and had an LCD TV and a street-facing window with curtains. It felt like home. The staff were polite and kind, and check-in and checkout were quick and easy. For a 2-star hotel the room was decent and clean, with two single spring beds. The AC was cold and the hot water worked well. The issues were water leaking onto the floor when the toilet was flushed, and blankets that need replacing. I mentioned the leak, but was told they were still waiting for the repairman.
