The upstairs bedroom in our standard bungalow was great: very clean, cool with good aircon, and fitted with a comfortable mattress. Downstairs was another story. The open-air bathroom was worn, buggy, and moldy, and I burned incense to cover the smell. The lounge was reasonably clean and nicely furnished, but the heat made it unusable without aircon. The infinity pool by the river was refreshing, though it needed a deep clean, and its steps were slippery with moss. We couldn’t shower because there was basically no running water. That was the deal breaker, so we left after one night and lost the money for the other two. The staff tried to help, but their limited English made it hard to sort things out. We thought about upgrading, but they asked for an exorbitant extra $500 AUD for two nights on top of the $140 we’d already lost. The “premium” rooms smelled worse, too. I’d really wanted to love the place. The online photos and reviews got us excited, but the hotel’s vision doesn’t come through in the execution. It’s two stars at best, yet costs double what it should. Sad and disappointing.

We spent three nights here and enjoyed cooling off in the pool in the mornings and evenings. It’s a lovely pool beside a wooded stream, and the place has a great atmosphere, with immaculate decor in both the hotel and huts. The backs of the two story huts face a papaya orchard. Staff were friendly and helpful, and one spoke great English. The hotel is well located, but the huts have thin walls and sit right beside a road, so light sleepers may prefer a room in the main building. Breakfast was great when there were no other guests, since we could order anything from the menu.

It’s a pretty little hotel, but the room doesn’t feel very high end, even though the price is about what you’d pay at a four star hotel.

There’s parking, and the room is spacious, but it could use a bit of deep cleaning. Breakfast was very basic, with only a couple of choices. The place is near a busy road, so it gets a bit noisy. It’s a small resort style hotel close to Borobudur, and the weekend price is quite high. An extra bed costs Rp 150.000,-, breakfast included.

The food tastes really good, and I love the ambiance and views here. It’s very cozy and a nice place for a holiday with authentic Javanese culture. Hope I can come back soon.
