The authentic food and lovely views of the Merbabu and Merapi mountains made this a great place to unwind. I also got a nice glimpse of Javanese culture. We stayed for two days, and the owner personally showed us wonderful hospitality.

The pisang-goreng with gula-merah/aren poured over it is a must-try. The garden feels like a beautiful forest, and it's really relaxing there. Bigger rooms would make the place perfect, maybe a joglo used as a suite.

I especially loved the morning tiwul, and the food in general was amazing. The place is easy to get to, and so peaceful for resting away from the hustle and bustle. What made my stay priceless was getting to talk each day with the owner about nusantara and Javanese culture. Nature all around gives it a magical feeling. Come experience it yourself!

Rumah Boedi feels like backpacking in Nepal with resort style, a real call to life serenity. It's in Magelang Regency, home of Borobudur Temple, about 1.5 hours from Yogyakarta, where things are already somewhat overcrowded. This is the kind of sanctuary you need for soul maintenance. The property covers 7000 sqm of trees and greenery. Its private residence has Buddhism ambience and architecture shaped by Javanese Philosophy. Keputren Area has 9 standard rooms for 2 people each, while the separate Keputran Area has several junior suits for 2 to 3 pax. Every room has a small balcony. The open-air Lobby/Reception and Dining area/restaurant are in separate buildings. There's a chill-out open space with views of Mt. Merapi and Mt. Sumbing, and on clear days you can see Elo's river down below. Sundecks are a nice spot for hot lemon grass tea, ginger coffee, or the local home made wine while waiting for sunsets. Yoga classes are scheduled in a designated area in the sheltered corner beside the chill-area. Owner pak Budi is very friendly. If guests are interested, he'll accompany them himself and share local stories, as well as his dream of empowering the local economy around the resort. That way of life comes from his own experience as an experienced financier in his younger time. A small plunge pool would add value. After a busy morning of tours, it would be nice to dip in the water while waiting for sundown. Activities around the resort include VW Tour, Temples Tour (Borobudur, Mendut, Prambanan), cycling, cooking class, traditional massage, and more.
