Arif, Risky, and the rest of the team made us feel at home from the moment we arrived at Kupu Kupu. The atmosphere stayed warm and cozy throughout our visit. Booking was easy thanks to their clear communication, and they helped us arrange an exciting jungle trek. The lodge is beautifully designed to fit into nature, and we especially liked the Orang Utan room. We had a fantastic time and would recommend staying here in Bukit Lawang. We’ll be back.

We booked a jungle trek here, and they matched us with a guide and route suited to what each guest likes. The location is incredible, facing the jungle and really quiet. Rizky makes delicious Rendang, and the staff were wonderful. Thanks to Rizky, Ipul, Gibran, and the rest of the team. We think it’s the best Hotel in Bukit Lawang.

The staff were always smiling, friendly, and ready to help, and there’s plenty of space to unwind and enjoy the forest. Kupu-Kupu fits beautifully into the landscape. We booked a 2D1N jungle trek through them ahead of time. Our guide spoke excellent English and shared lots about orangutans, the forest, and the people around Bukit Lawang. On our final day we joined a four-hour tour about agriculture and culture in nearby villages. It’s well worth it if you’re interested in local life. We learned how people make brown sugar and tempeh, and build traditional roofs. We also got a better sense of how tourism and palm oil plantations affect the community. A wonderful stay!

This is a lovely, quiet spot, tucked away from the village on the river and facing the jungle. The staff were wonderful and the food was delicious. We did a challenging but rewarding 3 days, 2 nights trek with Wanda and Juli, and saw everything we hoped to see. The guides knew so much and went the extra mile to make it a great time. A must-stay and must-do in Bukit Lawang.

Risky and Arif were great hosts, and Randy was a hardworking jungle guide who knew his stuff. The staff were responsive and helpful, organizing everything for me. The jungle hike is a must, with so many wild orangutans to see. The hotel is beautiful, charming, and in a prime spot. I’ve never seen one integrated so artistically with its surroundings, and I thought it was very good value.
