There’s a free tea and coffee table along the corridor, and the internet is really fast. The staff were helpful and very friendly, even though they spoke only a little English. They arranged a taxi to Padang for an incredibly low price, one I wouldn’t have got through a travel agency. The new, clean hostel is just a two-minute walk from the main Square, cafes, restaurants, and landmarks. Rooms have one bed each, with shared bathrooms in the corridor. This has been my favorite place to stay in Sumatra so far.

In Jan 2025, I paid 120k and thought it was great value, and I’d stay again for about that price. The room was tiny, though it still felt private. The mattress was comfortable and I slept well, and the place felt safe. Shared bathrooms were clean enough. At the more recent online prices of around 220k, it seems somewhat steep for the facilities.

Sapriadi spoke English and gave me some tips on places to visit, thanks to him. You can rent a scooter on site, and the accommodation in Bukittinggi is clean and comfortable.

The staff were all really friendly and helpful, and we had a good time in Bukit Tinggi town. The weather was comfortable, too.
