Kuara Lombok

We came to Kuara for a cooking class as visitors, not hotel guests, and it became one of our favorite parts of Lombok. Catur was a warm, knowledgeable teacher who clearly loves sharing Indonesian food. We learned a lot, had fun, and felt welcome throughout. After we shared some feedback about the visit, the management team contacted us personally and invited us back for dinner. We were impressed by how thoughtfully and professionally they treated us. Dinner was outstanding, and we appreciated the effort they made so we could experience Kuara at its best. The setting is peaceful, beautiful, and carefully designed. What stayed with us most was how kindly the team listened and tried to make things right. We left with a lovely impression of the place and its people. Thanks especially to Catur and the management team for their generosity and hospitality. We’d happily recommend the class and hope to visit Kuara again.

The service really made our five nights at Kuara special. Alain, the General Manager, along with Sari and Dodik in the restaurant, were so friendly and generous, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. When my husband’s luggage went missing on our flight from Sydney, staff helped us buy replacement clothes and later drove us to the airport to collect the bag. We really appreciated it. We loved the resort’s design, which feels fresh and modern while taking cues from traditional styles and blending into the surroundings. We had a hard time choosing between lounging in our private gazebo by the lagoon pool, relaxing on the beach loungers, or heading off for spa treatments, catching a lobster for dinner from the villa’s farm just offshore, and a memorable private sunset cruise. We had a glorious five nights and can’t recommend Kuara highly enough. I’ll be back as soon as I can.

The food and spa were fine, though they didn’t quite live up to the rest of the stay. There’s room for improvement there, but neither detracted from the visit. I was also sad to see so much plastic in the sea, a wider problem that stands out against such a beautiful coastline. I stayed in a River House after an upgrade, and it was amazing. The river saltwater pool and setting were fabulous, and the villa’s natural materials, earthy colors, and well-considered layout looked stunning. Staff were warm, thoughtful, and attentive without making it feel like too much. Kuara Lombok is a lovely small resort on the quiet south coast, with just 16 suites right on the beach and nature all around. It feels remote, but isn’t hard to get to. The sunset cruise and cycling tour were memorable, and I was lucky enough to spot a turtle while snorkelling. A soulful place, well worth the trip to south Lombok.

I loved how peaceful and tucked away Kuara Lombok feels in South Lombok. It’s a lovely place to unwind and disconnect. The architecture is beautiful and fits naturally with the surroundings. There are several activities too. I tried the surfing trip, which was a highlight, and everything was well organized and enjoyable. I’d definitely like to come back.
