Hidden Paradise Cottages

We checked out early and moved to a hotel up the road that cost the same and was far better. I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything beyond its location, and the snorkelling was much better at the other end of the beach. Our stay was awful from the start. The hotel felt old and run down. We were first put in room 15 by reception, where the toilet was so stained and dirty that I immediately asked to move. Room 14 was only marginally better. The smell and lack of cleanliness made it hard to use the bathroom without gagging. The restaurant staff were unfriendly and unhelpful, something I’d never experienced in Bali during my 10 trips. Beds were small and uncomfortable, with old marked sheets and flat, awful pillows. I know it’s a three-star hotel, but I’d give it one star.

We needed somewhere calm after a full day out in Bali, and this cozy place was just right. We only booked one night, which I now wish had been longer. Breakfast was delicious, and the other restaurant dishes were just as good. There’s also a nice SPA across the road, plus you can arrange a boat for snorkeling from the shore, so it’s all close by. Thanks, we’d happily recommend it! ;)

We loved how the complex fits in with the natural surroundings, right across from the coral reef at beautiful Lipah bay, where you can snorkel and dive. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with big cozy beds and stylish outdoor bathrooms. Food was very good, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

The restaurant was a highlight for us, from the plentiful included breakfast to the delicious, reasonably priced meals. We mostly ordered Balinese and Indonesian food. The staff were consistently friendly, polite, and quick to help, and the inexpensive one-day laundry service left our clothes smelling sweet. The villas are spacious and comfortable, with privacy between them. Our bed was *huge, and the AC kept the room comfortable all the time. There’s also a small porch out front with a table and chairs. The bathroom worked well, though getting hot water was difficult. We found that was true at the other places we stayed in Indonesia too. Hidden Paradise Cottages sits south of the Amed beach area, in a quieter spot right on the beach. The open-air restaurant has a lovely view over the water. I thoroughly recommend staying here.
