The calm at Santai Hotel was what stayed with me most. There’s no traffic or chaos, just the slower pace of Amed and a chance to properly breathe. I found it a peaceful, memorable place to get away from the crowds and reconnect with nature in East Bali. The team welcomed me with warm smiles and kept being kind, attentive, and helpful throughout my stay. The hotel has traditional style bungalows among tropical gardens, with a beautiful beachfront view. I loved waking to the waves and stepping onto the black volcanic sand. You can relax by the pool, watch fishermen come back at sunrise, or feel the sea breeze over dinner at Coconut Restaurant. Santai has a lot of heart, and the setting and staff made it feel special long after I left. If you’re after somewhere authentic and peaceful in Bali, I’d highly recommend it. The pool was open all day, with comfy sunbeds and fresh towels provided daily. There’s direct access to the pebbly shore, plus a lovely beach swing that’s especially nice at sunset. Breakfast was filling and tastier than we expected, and both bungalows had air conditioners that worked perfectly. We rented two for our big family, and everyone was comfortable. The hotel is cozy and well kept, with friendly staff who were always ready to help. Check-in was quick and easy, and we didn’t run into any problems. It made for a calm, enjoyable holiday, and we were very happy with our stay. Drinks and wine were available in the room fridge for an extra cost, though we didn’t need any.

The setting was nice, but there were too many mosquitoes, too much vegetation and water, and the room and bed linen had a musty smell. I wasn’t impressed, and if I had another choice, I wouldn’t come back.

The accommodation is traditional and well cared for, though it could use a bit of updating. You’re right on the beach, with beautiful gardens and staff who are always willing to help. Santai is a great little place, and there are several good restaurants just a short walk away. I’d happily stay again.
