Amarta Beach Cottages

The best part here is the location: the beach has lovely coral and fish, and it’s a great place to snorkel almost anytime. The coral reef keeps the big waves back, so it’s good for children too. You can come by, order food, change in the bathroom, and head for a swim. When I first visited Amarta Beach Cottages with family and friends during Covid, I thought it was wonderful. The rooms are ordinary, nothing special, and prices have gone up about 2.5 times since Covid. For simple rooms, I’d rather pay less for similar or sometimes better quality, so I now prefer to stay at other nice places nearby and visit for the beach. It’s still an amazing spot, and if you don’t have a bike to get around, staying here is a great choice. Breakfast is available, though simple, and guests can use the pool, which is nice, especially for children or when the tide is high.

In Candidasa, this is a very quiet spot on the East Bali coast. The beach right in front is amazing, and there’s a nice little pool facing the sea, plus one restaurant.

We were a family of five and had such a good three-night stay. The children loved the pool, and every cottage or room has a sea view. You can step straight onto the beach, which is especially nice for swimming at low tide. Our standard budget cottages looked a little old and were basic, but we found them adorable. The staff were helpful and very friendly, and we really liked the food. There are several other places to eat within walking distance, so there’s plenty of choice in the village. Our favorite outings were snorkeling at Blue Lagoon and taking a two-hour guided walk through rice terraces and traditional villages. The staff kindly arranged our airport pickup, about a two-hour drive.

Stayed three nights with my partner in this very simple place in a quiet part of Bali. It had what I needed: air conditioning, a mini fridge, restaurant, beach and pool. The views were exceptional, and I felt safe here, even as a woman traveling alone. The internet wasn’t great, but it worked okay around the restaurant. I’ll definitely come back.
