Villa Kelapa Candidasa

We stayed for 10 days and it was perfect. Calling this a five-star review doesn't do it justice, it's a 25-star one for the five of us. The workers here were absolutely perfect.

The grounds are lovely, and the private pool was a big reason we booked. The pool itself was in good condition. The villa was meant to be the perfect finish to our Bali holiday, but it ended up disappointing us. We booked three bedrooms through Booking.com, then found out there was an extra charge for the third. We couldn't make sense of the positive Booking.com reviews, which seemed to reflect different circumstances. Inside, the place was in an unacceptable state. It looked as if it hadn't been properly cleaned for years: crumbs and debris, dead flies and beetles, cobwebs everywhere, a snail in the bathroom, black marks on the walls and curtains, brown-stained pillowcases, and disgusting toilet seats. The bathroom and kitchen fittings were so scaled up and rusty that they seemed beyond repair. Everything felt old, dirty, worn out, or broken. At €130 a night in the off-season, cleanliness shouldn't be negotiable. This isn't about nitpicking. None of this is the fault of Waju, who was very nice and made our breakfast as well as cleaning. We felt he could only do so much with what he was given, which seemed to be little more than a broom. And to be clear, this is about the house, not the lovely people working there. At checkout, the manager responded kindly to our comments and said they would renovate the villa a bit.

The villa was really pleasant, and the staff were great ⭐ The one downside was the bedroom air conditioning. It drips water, and the radiators work very poorly, sometimes not at all.
