Lemon Guest House

I hate leaving a bad review, but I woke up covered in bed bug bites, on my face, back, sides and arms. That’s never happened to me before, and the bed must have been infested. The room itself was filthy, with yellowing along the bottom of the white brick walls and spiders and webs in the ceiling corners. Maybe other rooms are better, but the one I had was disgusting. I’m still covered in bites, so I felt I had to say something.

I spent January 2025 at Lemon Guest House, a family-run homestay that’s affordable for Canggu. The greenery, friendly welcome and helpful staff stood out, though the weak soundproofing, basic amenities and cleanliness concerns kept it feeling average rather than a must-book. It could suit budget travelers, backpackers or digital nomads who just need a bed and breakfast, don’t mind noise, and bring their own toiletries. Light sleepers, people wanting higher comfort or cleanliness, and anyone who needs a fridge, TV or hairdryer in the room may want to avoid it. I’d come back here. It’s a good price, close to cafes and restaurants, and the WiFi was good. I stayed three nights in an upstairs room, with a big comfy bed, plenty of space and cool air conditioning. The shower was roomy too. Staff were really friendly and always said hello, and I spent hours in the lovely pool every day. Thank you!

The staff were easily the best part, so lovely and helpful, and breakfast was simple but delicious. The pool area is cozy, and the location is quiet despite being right in the heart of Canggu. They also have laundry, scooter rental and surf classes, and it sounds like you can ask them to arrange other things too. The traditional Bali-style rooms were humid and dark, though they’re being renovated now. I’ll definitely come back.
