Tropical Canggu Hostel

I stayed at this hostel many times over the past months and trusted it, so what happened on my last visits was shocking. I never wanted to write a bad review, but other travelers should know how unsupported and unsafe I felt there. On 31.12.24, I was suddenly checked out while my clothes were still on the bed. I had always paid afterward, not in advance, and that night I was stranded on a volcano with a broken scooter. In Jan 2025, my phone and power bank disappeared, and staff only said, “We don't know.” My helmet went missing on 30.07.25, with the same response. Then on 03.08.25, my DJI Mini 4 drone disappeared. I told three staff members. When police came the next day, a fourth staff member denied I'd reported it. It was shocking to be treated like a liar when I was the victim. Staff spoke to police in Indonesian, saying I was forgetful and had left it somewhere else. They also talked about my earlier scooter theft in Palembang, though I don't know what that had to do with my drone being stolen from my bed. Afterward, staff messaged me on WhatsApp: “Prove that you left the drone in the room.” Some clothes disappeared after that, and later I even found some of my belongings in the garbage. Instead of helping, staff blocked me on WhatsApp. The whole thing felt humiliating and surreal. I've stayed in many hostels in Bali, but here I felt completely unprotected. There was no responsibility or sympathy, and nobody said sorry, just excuses and denial. Staff said, “The hostel owner forbade you to live here.” I now live at another hostel in Kuta that's cheaper and safer, with cameras in the rooms. The staff there never touch people's belongings, and even empty bottles stay where you leave them. This hostel isn't safe for your belongings or peace of mind. If something goes missing, don't expect support.
