Villa Sama Canggu

The rooftop terrace was great for unwinding in the evening, and the pool and projector were nice features. Still, with everything else that went wrong, the price felt high. We did get 10% compensation of the booking fee. Getting in at check-in was a problem because construction vehicles blocked the front door. We arrived at 3:15 PM, though check-in was set for 3:00 PM, and the villa was still being cleaned. Once we got inside, several areas, especially the kitchen, hadn't been cleaned properly. The cleaning staff seemed rushed to leave and missed spots, and the bathrooms needed a deep clean. Booking.com also hadn't mentioned that construction was literally next door. The noise was really loud for a few days of our stay. The neighboring buildings make the villa look relatively new, but there were already signs of wear. We had two leaks: a burst hose on the bum gun flooded the sunken living room, and rainwater came in through a gap near a window frame. The hot tub was dirty, with a green residue that was likely algae. It was slippery and unsafe. I asked for it to be thoroughly cleaned, but that request was ignored. If you're looking for a peaceful break from the bustle of Canggu, I wouldn't recommend staying here at the moment because of the construction nearby.

Staff were super friendly at check-in, and the place was cleaned thoroughly every day with fresh towels. Everything was clean and nice, and we had no issues with mosquitoes or anything like that. The location gets 5/5 from me: peaceful, close to the good bakeries, and a little farther from food outlets. There's a gym nearby too. A bit more shade over the swim area between 11-3pm would be nice, though the sunshade was enough. One tip: keep the upstairs doors closed during the day and leave the aircon on. Otherwise, it struggles to cool down. With the doors shut, it's perfectly fine through the hottest part of the day. Easy 5 stars.

We had an incredible family stay at this modern tropical villa in Bali. The interiors were stunning and gave our vacation a touch of luxury, and it was exceptionally comfortable and fully equipped. The location made it easy to explore Bali, too. It was a perfect choice for a family with children. We couldn't have asked for a better place, and we'll definitely return.
