Valore Hotel

We picked Valore because it’s close to the Baros highway exit and the family wedding venues in Cimahi. After our two-night stay for a wedding in November last year, those felt like the only real reasons to book there. I wouldn’t want anyone, even someone I disliked, to go through what we did. I hope Valore Hotel Cimahi improves, especially since there’s also a residential section in the building and the health risks we experienced in November 2023 were serious. Management needs to train staff better and raise cleanliness and hygiene standards if the hotel is to last or grow in hospitality. The breakfast buffet was a final low point. The hall, which looked like a restaurant but only operated at breakfast, was full of police officers, perhaps on a training trip. I’d already accepted the limited small-town buffet selection when a policewoman ahead of me found a moldy piece of bread. The staff member said it must have happened because the container was closed while the bread was still warm. She pointed out that it was mold and meant the bread had already expired when it was put out. There were problems with both rooms, too. We asked to move later that day after finding a live cockroach in the bathroom, and Valore moved us to another room on the same floor, promising it was pest-free. But the bathroom drain there was clogged, so a normal five-minute shower left the floor lightly flooded and slippery. The hot water worked, though the dampness made it hard to hang our towels to dry. The first room was spacious and had working air conditioning, but housekeeping didn’t seem to have done a good job. Within minutes, my fiance found a live cockroach in the bathroom. There was already another cockroach, lying on its back near the entrance when we arrived. The front desk area and staff also seemed too slow to manage several incoming guests at once. The lift was cramped, and the corridors were dim, with damp carpet.

I only stayed one night because I was desperate for a place. It was filthy, with barely any outlets for charging my phone and laptop. There was a cigarette burn on the sheets, mold and peeling paint in the bathroom, and bugs on the wall. The AC was loud, and a noisy clock kept me awake all night. The building needs major renovation and updating. Management should look after it before renting out these apartments. I really wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The low price seems to come with very poor upkeep. The pillow and towel smelled awful, the bedsheets had stains, and even basic hotel slippers weren’t included in the room amenities. Unless you have no other option, I wouldn’t recommend booking here because the whole building is so poorly maintained.

The pool is nice, and the stay is worth the money if you want to swim. It’s also near the Baros highway exit and a famous chicken noodle restaurant. This is both a hotel and an apartment, so keep your expectations modest. If you’re bringing kids, ask for a non-smoking room. Check the toilet flush and the room AC when you check in, and raise any issues then instead of complaining after checkout. If the AC leaks, you can catch the water in a trash bin. Be sensible.
