Alit Beach Resort and Villas

It’s close to Sanur Beach and the port for fast boats to Lombok, but the place is now very old and neglected. The photos must have been taken a long time ago. The thatched bungalows are derelict and falling apart. There’s no restaurant, and we didn’t dare try the breakfast dining room. At 6 a.m. on checkout morning, a male staff member barged into our upstairs room without announcing himself, knocking, or calling out. My partner was still in bed. I yelled at him to get out, then realized he’d taken the cigarettes and lighter from the balcony table 😡🤬

I paid 650,000, and for that price the stains and hairs on the sheets and a bathroom that seemed not to have been cleaned for years were unacceptable. The place is completely misadvertised. Getting to the only habitable building meant walking through a deserted, derelict part of the resort. The villas were in total ruin, and the overgrown landscaping made it feel eerie, like a post-apocalypse zombie movie. I’d hoped for a nice treat near the harbour, even though I found the price expensive. When I asked what had happened, they said they’d lacked the money to maintain or improve the resort since the COVID pandemic five years ago. From what I could gather, there’s a Japanese investor and an absent owner who clearly wants to take all the revenue without putting a penny back into the hotel. I’d highly recommend avoiding this scary place.

The location was great and the staff were lovely, but sadly the place is very run down and doesn’t look like the photos.

The property is quite large, with some nice gardens. It’s well maintained and in a very convenient spot, hardly a three-minute walk from Sanur port, where ferries and fast boats to nearby islands are available. We booked at the very last minute and were fortunate to get a good room, thanks to the owner.
